Overview
Rebelcon was a highlight for us in 2025. Tech and AI conference, big ambitions, hosted in one of Cork’s most distinctive venues. A big, beautiful space that needed some careful audio planning.
Working with the Rebelcon team was a genuine pleasure. We delivered a landmark event — efficiently, responsively, and on budget.
The Venue: Marina Market Cork
Marina Market is stunning. Industrial. Raw. High ceilings, exposed steel, polished concrete. The kind of space that makes an impression before anyone even takes the stage.
That said, a space this size needs thoughtful audio design. The adjacent food market adds ambient noise to work around, and those beautiful hard surfaces — concrete, steel — create natural reverb. Stunning visually, but the acoustics need attention.
The Audio Challenge
This is where our engineering team earns their keep.
We built the audio system specifically for Marina Market’s acoustic profile. Line array speakers for main coverage. Point-source delays positioned throughout the room. The line array gives controlled vertical dispersion — sound goes on the audience, not the ceiling where it bounces back as mush.
End result? Clear audio, front to back. No dead zones. Reverb managed so audio came through cleanly.
Lighting Control
We worked with Marina Market’s team to get the in-house festoons operational. More importantly, we got full control of all venue lighting for the event.
We were running a 6-metre projection screen as the stage backdrop, fully draped for clean edges. Projection doesn’t forgive — any ambient light washing the screen and your contrast collapses.
Full control meant we could dim house lights during presentations. Keeping that projection sharp.
The “Hogwarts” Moment
Our crew arrived two days early. Using a cherry picker and steel cabling, we hung eight x 4-metre banners from the ceiling.
When attendees walked in? Dramatic, immersive, completely transformed the space. You're not walking into a market building anymore - you're walking into an event.
Branding & Atmosphere
We went heavy on printed media. Rebelcon branding everywhere, playing off the industrial backdrop. Tech conference polish against raw Cork venue. The contrast worked.
LED floor uplighting in brand colours throughout. Moving-head fixtures sweeping across ceiling and steelwork — reinforcing the tech vibe without going full nightclub.
